A brief history of the name Sugar Shack. Our home has only had 3 owners since 1949. The Elmores, The Watsons, and now the Collins. The Elmores had children and grandchildren that grew up on the island, and when we tore the original house down in 2004, the grandchildren repurposed some of the old features of the home.
When the Watsons owned the home from 1969 to 2004, it was the house that many visited with their sweethearts to steal their first kiss overlooking the peaceful Sunset Lagoon. Thus the home became known on Wrightsville Beach as The Sugar Shack, and so it is today.
The Sugar Shack is 5150 square feet, and an oversized, fully fenced, soundfront lot with boat dock and boat lift. Large gazebo and lower level outdoor kitchen and entertaining area. Pool with hot tub, three car garage, exercise room, half bath, changing room all on the first level. Ping Pong, hammock, bicycles, and kayak the outdoor adventurer. Once you pull into the garages and close the doors, all of your living overlooks the peace and serenity of Sunset Lagoon. Parking for 6 vehicles
4 bedrooms with the master bedroom on the main living level. A chef’s kitchen is fully outfitted with Wolf appliances and Sub Zero refrigerator. Cigar/wine sitting room off of the kitchen overlooking the waterway with mahogany pocket doors and air quality system.. Dining for up to 10, all open to the living room. Large functional office work space on the main level as well. Flooring throughout the house is Cape Fear River Wood. Mahogany double front door, and mahogany rails on the stairway on the front and back stairs. Epe outdoor decks and stairs on all levels. Mahogany walls in the elevator which goes to all floors.
